How It Works
01
Medical Review
Complete a secure, online questionnaire of your medical history. Our independent practitioner will review your history to inform their analysis.
02
Pre-Scan Prep
In the four hours prior to your scan, drink only clear liquids and remove any jewelry. When you arrive, one of our experienced MRI technologists will review the process with you.
03
Prenuvo Scan
The MRI technologist will ask you to lay down in the scanner and rest lightweight image receiver coils on your body. You will briefly hold your breath several times for abdominal imaging, but otherwise you can relax, watch a show or listen to music throughout the duration of your scan.
04
Imaging Assessment
Up to 2000 images taken during the scan are sent to a Prenuvo-trained radiologist for a complete assessment. Your results are typically ready in approximately 2 weeks.
05
Reporting & Follow-Up
Your detailed Prenuvo report is then shared with your doctor and you via our web and mobile app. If something serious is discovered, we alert your doctor as soon as possible. If needed, we can recommend a doctor or specialist in your region.

FAQS
Do I need a referral?
Yes. You must have a referral to have a Prenuvo scan. If you require, we can arrange a referral from an independent medical practitioner at no cost to you. It may seem like an unnecessary requirement, but it exists to look after you in the event there is a serious medical finding. A medical practitioner can assist you in understanding and contextualizing any finding.
Do you offer financing?
We offer 3rd party financing through Paybright in Canada and Affirm in the US for most locations.
How are you different from other whole body MRI services?
There are so many differences between a Prenuvo scan and other whole body MRI services that we generally don't make comparisons. - Sequences and filters used – To make sure that there is a low false-positive rate, it is essential to image your body with multiple filters (multiparametric imaging). Most other whole body providers do not use many filters in their screening protocol. In our protocol, this is the key to our low false-positive rate. - Quality and quantity of the images — We take up to 2000 high-quality images inside your body. The basic rule is that more images provide more details. We capture up to 10x more images than some other "Whole Body MRIs". - One-time scanning — We scan you from head to toe during one 50-75min scan. Other providers scan parts of the body, missing entire sections, and call it a whole body scan. - Price – Our services are less expensive than our competitors.
How long do I have to wait to get a scan?
If you are flexible as to when you can come to the clinic, we can usually accommodate you within 1 to 2 weeks. You are able to see real-time availability by clicking "Book an appointment" in the top right corner of the page.
How long does the radiology take to be completed?
We aim to return every customer's medical report within 10-15 business days. Infrequently there are short delays, particularly around the holidays. If we think your report will be delayed we will let you know in advance.
Is the Prenuvo scan covered by extended insurance?
Typically, a Prenuvo scan is not covered by extended insurance. Some customers have had success claiming part of the scan fee with their insurer, but this is not commonplace. We are working with insurers to educate them on the advantages of the Prenuvo scan but it is unlikely that there will be changes in the short term.
Is there an age you recommend people be screened by/around?
Ultimately, the choice comes down to you. If you have a strong family history of cancer or major disease then a Prenuvo scan at a younger age makes sense. The incidence of cancer goes up with age, starting at approximately 40 years old. However, cancer that develops at a younger age, while less common, tends to be more aggressive. A Prenuvo scan at any age is helpful, especially in establishing a baseline for your health.
What does the medical report contain?
We produce a detailed medical report for your physician that walks them through every system and organ in the body and identifies any abnormal findings we identify. This is produced in a format that they are familiar with.
What should I expect during the scan?
MRI is a harmless, pain-free procedure. The scanner is air-conditioned, well-lit, and you will always be in contact with an MRI technologist through a two-way intercom. The MRI scanner produces thumping and humming noises as it is acquiring the images. We will offer you some headphones or earplugs to reduce the noise. You can also choose to listen to music to help pass the time. We can set a playlist for you, or we can plug in your music, it is up to you! All new locations are also fitted with a TV for you to enjoy during your scan! The technologist who operates the scanner will be observing you from the adjacent room throughout the scan. It is important to remain still when images are being acquired.
What specific sequences do you use in the Prenuvo scans?
We perform a comprehensive set of protocols that image the entire body. These include brain quantification, arterial assessment, fat quantification as well as dedicated cancer and spinal screening. Our custom tailored whole body MRI protocol is based on MRI tissue-contrasts based on T1-weighted, T2-weighted, Fat-suppressed and non-fat-suppressed, and DWI techniques, a combination of evidence-based and emerging technologies that offer the most comprehensive diagnostic imaging in a reasonable time frame.
